Field guide · read this once before your first job

1 What this is

Comfortproof is the app you run at a replacement appointment. It does four things, and it does them from your phone:

Sizes the system — a real load calc from a few facts about the house, not a rule of thumb.
Captures the house by photo — you shoot everything, and it reads the equipment, panel, ducts and lineset out of the pictures.
Builds the proposal — good / better / best, tied to what the homeowner actually told you they care about.
Has Ira — an AI assistant built in that knows our company's rules and answers HVAC and sales questions on the spot.
Bottom lineYou walk the house, shoot it, and the app turns that into a sized system, a cut sheet, and a proposal you can present. You're still the expert — it does the paperwork and the math.

2 Set it up on your phone

Two minutes, once. Do it before you're standing in someone's kitchen.

  1. Open the link

    Tap the link Chris sent you. It opens right in your browser — nothing to download from an app store.

  2. Hard-refresh once

    The very first time, force it to pull the latest version. After that it updates itself.

  3. Add it to your Home Screen

    So it runs full-screen like a real app and you can tap it from your home screen anytime.

  4. Sign in

    Put in your name and the password Chris gave you. Your name goes on every appointment — that's how the work stays yours and how your calls line up with your coaching. Do this once; it remembers you.

🍎 iPhone — Safari

  1. Hard-refresh: pull the page down until it reloads (or close the tab and reopen the link).
  2. Add to Home Screen: tap Share ▵ → scroll to Add to Home Screen → Add.

🤖 Android — Chrome

  1. Hard-refresh: tap the ⋮ menu → ↻ reload.
  2. Install: tap ⋮ → Add to Home screen / Install app.
You'll never get a new linkWhen Chris pushes an update, the app shows a little "↻ New version ready — tap to refresh" bar. Tap it and you're current. That's the only "update" you ever do.

3 Running a job, start to finish

Every launch drops you on the home screen. Tap + Start a new appointment and it walks you straight through, one screen at a time, so you can't get lost.

Every appointment starts fresh and blankThe app is not hooked up to ServiceTitan or any other system. Nothing is pre-loaded — no customer history, no prior-call notes, no imported job data. You enter what you find, live on-site. The only jobs it ever shows are ones you personally worked on this same phone; nothing is pulled in from anywhere.
  1. Start freshThe appointment opens blank — nothing pre-filled. You capture everything on-site. If the homeowner mentions something a prior tech said, you can note it as unconfirmed — never as fact.
  2. Permission & propertyNote consent and any basics about the home.
  3. Their concern, in their wordsWhat is the homeowner actually worried about? Problem before solution — this is what the whole proposal points back to.
  4. Photo-dump the houseShoot everything — equipment, data plates, panel, ducts, returns, lineset, water heater — and drop it all in at once. The app reads each shot and figures out what it is. No forms.
  5. Safety findingsAny safety call runs through a six-field check before it's a finding. There is no "just sign here" shortcut.
  6. SystemsDuctwork, airflow, electrical, gas, water heater. To scale a size off a photo, put something of known size in the shot. For ducts a tape or a stud bay works. For the line set, drop a coin against the pipe (quarter, nickel, penny, dime) — a small reference reads that small pipe far better than a tape. Then confirm the read yourself.
  7. LoadThe measured heat-load result — built from the capture, with the tier label always attached. Honest number, faster than faking one.
  8. Options — good / better / bestThree packages, each tied back to what they told you. No countdown, no scarcity, no signature pressure.
  9. PresentFlip the phone to the homeowner. Clean screen, no operator clutter — what we found, what fits, why, and the number.
  10. DecisionThey decide on trust. You log where it landed.
  11. Cut sheet & drawingThe cut sheet fills itself from everything you measured, marked measured / nameplate / computed, with anything missing flagged in red — never a made-up number.
  12. Install notes → Review → ExportScope for the installers, a review gate that won't let you export with open items unresolved, then export the package. Done.
⚠ Verify every measurement yourself — for now, don't trust the auto-readsThis is a test build. The app's automatic reads (sizes off photos, nameplate decodes, duct and lineset measurements) are not proven yet. Treat every number it gives you as a draft: check it with your own eyes and your own tools before it drives sizing, the cut sheet, or what you tell the homeowner. If a read looks off, fix it — and hit the ⚠ button so we know (section 6).
You can always go backTap any step you've already done to fix a value — nothing is locked and everything saves as you go. The ⚠ button lives in the top corner of every job screen.

4 Meet Ira

Ira is your field copilot. Tap "✦ Ask Ira" — it's on the home screen for general questions, and it floats on every job screen for questions about the house you're standing in.

Ask it anything in three lanes

HVAC — sizing, will-it-fit, line sets, electrical (wire/breaker), code, venting, comfort problems.
Sales — financing, handling an objection, how to explain the price honestly, building the good/better/best case.
The app — "how do I do X in here?" It'll walk you through it — just ask it to.

Lean on it during the appointment

Ira isn't just a lookup for later — it's a live second opinion you can pull up mid-job, right there in the house. Hit a tricky or complicated setup and you're not sure? Ask it in plain English: "what would you do here," "does this fit," "how do I handle this venting/zoning/electrical situation." It answers on this home's real numbers and our company rules, so it's a sharp advisor to bounce a complex call off of before you commit to an approach.

Snap a photo and ask about it

Tap the 📷 in Ira, shoot a nameplaterusty coila bad ducta panel and ask. It reads the plate, decodes size/age, or tells you what it's looking at.

Teach it — 👍 or ✎

After every answer you get two buttons. Hit 👍 Helpful and it's saved as a confirmed answer for the team. Hit ✎ Not right, type the correct answer, and that correction overrides it next time — for everyone. One guy's fix helps the whole crew. That's how it gets sharper every week.

It already knows our rulesIra is loaded with the company's field rules — for example, no Nest or Ecobee on a dual-fuel system, and dual-fuel always needs an outdoor temperature sensor. Ask it before you guess.

5 The drawing — read this

Straight talk: the app's auto-drawing is basic for now. Don't lean on it yet.

Keep drawing your survey sheetsDraw them exactly like you always have. Then take a photo of your hand-drawn sheet and upload it into the app — it stores your sketch right next to its own drawing, and it's learning from yours. The real 3D scan-and-draw comes with the native app.

The auto-drawing is indoor equipment and ductwork only (we never draw the outdoor unit — company rule). Every dimension is color-tagged so you can trust it: green = measured, blue = off a nameplate, purple = computed, red = still needs a measurement. It will never fill in a fake number. For now, treat your own survey sheet as the real drawing.

6 When something's wrong

This is a test build. Something acting weird, a number that looks off, a screen that jams? That's exactly what we want to hear about.

  1. Tap the ⚠ button

    Top corner of any job screen. Type what went wrong or looked off — it goes straight to the team. (It never sends any customer info.)

  2. Then text Chris

    Especially if it blocked you on a live appointment. Quick note is plenty.

Finding the broken stuff is the job right nowYou're not bugging anyone by reporting things. Every issue you flag makes the tool better for the whole crew. Report freely.
